Where It All Began:

Eugene Kang’s jerky obsession started young, stocking shelves at his family’s convenience stores scattered across Southern California’s deserts. As a Korean-American kid handling some of the day-to-day hustle of a business, he not only caught the entrepreneurship bug from his parents, but he also had a front row seat to the evolution of the jerky category.

While on a trip to the Grand Canyon, Eugene took a life-changing bite of jerky at a roadside stand. Blown away by its taste and quality, he tracked down the manufacturer, Celestino “Charlie” Mirarchi, who had a small San Bernardino-based facility. In 2011 Eugene and his aunt purchased the business. The mission? Get this insanely good, real-ingredient jerky into everyone’s hands.

Archer’s breakthrough came in 2014 when Eugene partnered with Huy Fong Sriracha to create a sriracha flavored jerky. This innovative flavor caught the attention of some major retailers’ and helped put Archer on the map. A year later, the company began to take off, and to-this-day Archer remains committed to bold, culinary flavors using real protein & real ingredients.

In 2017, Archer disrupted the snack game by launching meat sticks made from clean, simple ingredients with no fillers, no junk, or extra preservatives. These protein snacks took off as people sought convenient, actually-good-for-you fuel. When we launched our Original Beef Mini Sticks at Costco in 2019, they became an instant hit. Today, Archer serves up a variety of both mini and full-size sticks that keep the whole family satisfied and snacking smart.
